What is html

  1. HTML is a language for describing web pages.
  2. HTML is not a programming language, it is a markup language
  3. A markup language is a set of markup tags
  4. HTML stands for Hyper Text Markup Language

what is html Tags

HTML markup tags are usually called HTML tags
  1. HTML tags are keywords surrounded by angle brackets like <html>
  2. HTML tags normally come in pairs like <b> and </b>
  3. The first tag in a pair is the start tag, the second tag is the end tag
  4. Start and end tags are also called opening tags and closing tags

  1. HTML documents describe web pages
  2. HTML documents contain HTML tags and plain text

Edite html

HTML can be written and edited using many different editors like Dreamweaver and Visual Studio.
However, in this tutorial we use a plain text editor (like Notepad) to edit HTML. We believe using a plain text editor is the best way to learn HTML.
